Kuterevo is a village in Lika, approximately 14 kilometers southwest of Otočac. It has become known around the world for its unique refuge for young bears who have been orphaned by accident or poaching.

The shelter was founded in 2002. In 2005, a station was established with the aim of attracting volunteers from all over the world.

Every year, about 15 volunteer groups, 50 individual volunteers and over 20,000 visitors pass through the shelter. Educations on bears and souvenir shops have been organized for visitors, and the shelter is regularly expanded with new housing and facilities.
